Finds of the Day -- 3/17/10

After months of HURT LOCKER madness, several film industry insiders
claim that THE GREEN ZONE, a new $100 million war pic starring Matt
Damon, has put "the final nail in the coffin on war-themed pics for
some time." So far, THE GREEN ZONE has nearly failed to attract
audience members under the age of 30, a sign that America is starting
to suffer from "war fatigue". Studios like Sony, Disney, Fox and
Paramount, according to reports from VARIETY, have already began
avoiding the genre like the swine flu (more). When asked if any war-themed scripts are in demand at the moment,
one industry insider exclaimed the word
"Noooooooooooo!"

Your perfect medicine for war movie fatigue? How about watching Michael sing "Heal The World" in the inspiring documentary THIS IS IT, since you were too busy planning your Halloween costume when it came out last October.

Are you ready to watch this scene in 3D?

James
Cameron announced that he has plans to re-release his 1997 hit TITANIC
in the spring of 2012 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the
sinking ship. This time, however, the film will be released in 3D! Can
you imagine? Now, maybe the sex scene featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and
Kate Winslet will be as awkward and weird as the one in AVATAR.
Undoubtedly, Cameron is thrilled about the recent success of 3D films
and believes the trend will redefine the way we view movies: "[In a theater] you can’t pause, multitask,
picture-in-picture talk to your friends while the movie is playing.
You’re submitting to the power of the movie. As a filmmaker I want your
attention," he said. Sure, I guess, but I still laughed and talked with my friends through AVATAR's most intimate scene. Didn't you? (more).
