The film, business and nerd communities exploded into a frenzy last week when Disney announced that they were purchasing Marvel Comics and its character library. Rumors about the eventual fate of beloved Marvel franchises spread faster than Southern California wild fires. Mickey Mouse and Spider-Man crossovers? Fantastic Four meets the Incredibles? Stan Lee, say it ain’t so! Realistically, it will take some time before we see the effects of this enormous purchase, but you best stock up on Marvel movies as you remember them, because the future, at this point, is certainly unknown. Check out IRON MAN, THE PUNISHER and Sam Raimi’s well-respected SPIDER-MAN and SPIDER-MAN 2. Take a look at SPIDER-MAN 3 and try to figure out what went wrong; hopefully it’s not a harbinger of things to come.
