As the entire nation watches the presidential campaign hurtle towards Election Day, one soldier races to uncover the conspiracy behind it - a conspiracy that seeks to destroy democracy itself.
"This is something new. It is about today. And Demme's film is an even more powerful comment on its time than the movie on which it's based." -- Eric Harrison, HOUSTON CHRONICLE

Comments
Jonathan Demme's remake of The Manchurian Candidate proves that classic movies can be reinvented successfully, although it isn't easy. It helps to have a director like Demme (Silence of the Lambs), who is particularly skilled and creating an atmosphere of sleep-deprived apprehension and psychological mayhem.
