In this new comedy from director Larry Charles (BORAT, TV's "Seinfeld"), comedian and TV host Bill Maher ("Real Time with Bill Maher," "Politically Incorrect") takes a pilgrimage across the globe on a mind-opening journey into the ultimate taboo: questioning religion. Meeting a variety of believers from different religions, Maher asks simple questions, like "Why is faith good?" "Why doesn't an all-powerful God speak to us directly?" and "How can otherwise rational people believe in a talking snake?" For anyone who's even a little spiritually curious, this divine entertainment will deepen your faith... in comedy!
"Maher is essentially and professionally a comic, and the measure of this movie is not just the thoughts it provokes but the laughs it generates." -- Jonathan Richards, FILM.COM

Bill Mahar is a lost "Has Been" looking for a place in the media... He is pathetic...
It is amazing, that people like Bill Maher, can waste money making television series like "Seinfeld" and movies like "Religious".
Luckily, not all the world is so naive, as to relish in Seinfeldian escapism or just plain micky taking like in "Religious".
The majority of people, accept what God gave man in the "Garden of Eden", i.e. Free Agency, which people can use to better themselves, or abuse and just waste time like Bill Maher does; Unfortunately, alot of people, take the Bible too literally, and can no longer understand the similitudes or language it was written in.
The King James version for example, which is written in vulgar English (i.e. common English (of the time)), suffers today, owing to peoples lack of understanding of the English language; e.g. the term "Rumours og War" in the "Book of Revelation", where it says: "...and there shall be wars and rumours of wars...", people generally interpret the phrase to mean "hearsay about wars", and fail to realize, that the word "rumour" here, is derived from the latin word "rumour" as used in Italian and Spanish, and means "Sound", thereby the sentence means "Sounds of War" or the "Clangs of War", refering to both contention, as well as the physical sounds of war, as experienced by the inhabitants of Dover, who could hear the "sounds of war" from accross the English Channel.
The Bill Mahers' of this world, will use similitudes themselves, by refering to people as snakes (i.e. serpents like Lucifer), and yet fail to see that they have just ridiculed the term they are using (perhaps it is just to close to home).
As regards God speaking to people directly, God does answer prayers, but to address multitudes, God uses prophets, and God's prophet in the world today, is Elder Thomas Spencer Monson.
If in doubt Bill Maher, follow what it says in the Book of James, and pray about it (fervently) NOTHING WAVERING.
Helgi
