Play it again
Submitted Tue, Sep 01, 2009 22:00 by gerryEarlier this month Steven Spielberg set cinephiles ablaze when he announced his intention to remake the 1950 classic HARVEY. Remakes are all the rage in Hollywood, but the results are mixed. What does it take to develop a good remake? Is it even possible? Several important directors and A-list stars have certainly tried , hoping to update influential films and make them relevant to today’s audiences. Watch some classic films and their recent remakes back-to-back and judge for yourself: ALFIE (1966 and 2004), THE BAD NEWS BEARS (1976 and 2005) and THE ITALIAN JOB (1969 and 2003).
