Actress Spotlight: Kristen Bell

Kristen Bell is as all American as you can get when it comes to the roles she has taken thus far in her career. Her characters run the gamut from intelligent to vapid and from kind and sweet to diabolical. With a spot on sense of humor and a spunky personality, Bell has quickly developed a huge fan base and it’s easy to see why. Check out  some of her films offered here on Film Fresh.

Start off with the much anticipated feature follow up to the cult show VERONICA MARS (2014). Having turned her back on her sleuthing days, Veronica has moved to New York and is interviewing with high profile law firms, but when she gets a call from her troubled ex-boyfriend Logan (Jason Dohring), who has been accused of murder, she finds herself returning to her hometown of Neptune as well as her old habits.

Indie comedy STUCK IN LOVE (2013) follows an acclaimed author (Greg Kinnear), who hasn’t been able to write since his ex-wife (Jennifer Connelly) left him three years ago. Unable to move on, he still spies on her in between casual romps with his married neighbor Tricia (Kristen Bell), who tries to push him back into the dating world. His teenage children (Lily Collins, Nat Wolff) both struggle to establish their own writing careers at the same time, while also dealing with their own romantic troubles.

Based on a 1997 classified ad widely shared on the internet, SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED (2012) is an offbeat comedy about a magazine writer (Jake Johnson) and his two interns Darius (Aubrey Plaza) and Arnau (Karan Soni), who investigate the source of the mysterious and amusing ad that offers the opportunity to go on a time traveling adventure. Darius befriends the eccentric writer of the ad (Mark Duplass), who wants to go back in time to save the life of his ex-girlfriend Belinda (Kirsten Bell), but as they train for their adventure, she starts to fall in love with him.

In BURLESQUE (2010), a small town singer Ali (Christina Aguilera) moves to the big city hoping for her big break. She becomes enchanted by a glamorous burlesque dance club run by Tess (Cher) and works to become the club’s next big star. Kristen Bell co-stars as Nikki, an arrogant and mean-spirited performer who butts heads with both Tess and Ali.

Fun family flick ASTRO BOY (2009) tells the tale of a spunky robot boy (Freddie Highmore), who lives in the futuristic Metro City that floats in the sky above the polluted surface of the Earth. Built as an android replica of his creator’s deceased son, the robot is ultimately rejected by his owner and embarks on a thrilling journey to find his own identity with the help of a young girl Cora (Kristen Bell) and his new robot friends.
